Coaching Methods

Modern Academics is committed to instructing and supporting students with educational challenges throughout their academic careers by building skills that promote subject mastery and independent learning. Integrated into all educational services, a variety of academic and executive function coaching methods are employed which focus on brain-based learning strategies that help students compensate for cognitive difficulties.

Coaching Emphasis

Emphasis is placed on developing and clarifying academic goals, improving organizational, planning, and time management skills, and developing self-advocacy skills. By combining subject instruction with coaching, Modern Academics promotes student awareness of individual strengths and challenges, and mentors these students on how to become their own advocates.

Christian Donahue is a multi-subject tutor and learning specialist providing educational services to students with persistent learning challenges at the middle, high school, and post-secondary educational levels.

Individual Tutoring

Tutoring is offered in all core content areas (math, science, literacy, and history) for students with learning differences in grades 6-12. In addition, tutoring in writing, math, and science is offered for students at the post-secondary level.

College Transition

For students with learning differences, the college transition process may be especially taxing. The College Transition Program (CTP) is designed specifically with this in mind. CTP works with college students to promote student success by focusing on three primary areas: academic and executive function coaching, writing development, and tutoring for introductory college courses.
