“My daughter has a unique learning style and had lots of anxiety surrounding failing in school. I tried many recommended tutors. I even called the education departments of several local universities. Still, none were a good match.
I had a neuropsychological evaluation conducted, in an effort, to gather information about my daughter’s learning style. The results of the evaluation were all over the place. My husband and I sat in the exit meeting with the neuropsychologist thinking, “Who is going to be able to help our beautiful daughter to learn?” In a moment of exasperation we asked the psychologist for a recommendation of a tutor who could help her. He suggested Christian Donahue. Little did we know at that moment that we had just heard the name of the man who would take our daughter from crying and anxiety to being a solid A- student in a high school college prep program.
Christian observed how our daughter processed information. He found a math curriculum that helped my daughter rely on her strengths. He taught our daughter to say aloud what she was thinking and where she was getting stuck. I confess that I do not know all of the techniques Christian uses but I do know my daughter is confident and willing to try new learning on her own. She initially saw Christian for Math and English but no longer needs to see him for those subjects. Our daughter sees Christian for managing the volume of work she is assigned and reinforcing her confidence in her abilities.
