Overview

Instruction is offered to bridge the gap in learning that arises from summer recess, often having especially devastating consequences for students with special learning needs. For example, students with math learning disabilities often experience a difficult transition back to school without consistent summer reinforcement of math concepts.

Review

Review sessions consist of lectures, interactive exercises, and quizzes that integrate individualized student-centered learning strategies. Designed for students with previous coursework exposure in that particular subject, review sessions are best-suited to students who may need extra help in mastering the specific skills needed to progress to the next level course. Instruction serves as a bridge, connecting previously learned material to subsequent concepts and district curriculum objectives. Review instruction is strongly recommended for those students who have struggled in courses during the most recent school year.

Preview

Preview sessions are offered as an introduction to high school science and math classes with the purpose of preparing students for future success. Sessions focus on developing skills needed to understand new content and are tailored to address the commonly encountered difficulties that most students experience in these courses. As with review instruction, preview sessions involve the use of district-mandated textbooks and are designed to mirror the curricular expectations for each subject.
